SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs has teamed up with local grocer Metropolitan Market to salute the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks, who will take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Seattle-area drug chain said that on Thursday the retailers will hoist a 30-by-50-foot flag in honor of the Seahawks at 4025 Delridge Way Southwest, where the corporate
headquarters for both Bartell Drugs and Metropolitan Market is located.

According to the companies, the flag will be the largest known No. 12 flag "free waving" from a stationary pole.

A public rally is slated to kick off at 10:30 a.m. (PST), with former Seattle Seahawk center and Super Bowl team member Robbie Tobeck and Washington State University Cougar great and former NFL quarterback Jack Thompson on hand to raise the No. 12 flag.

"No. 12 is an iconic symbol that has united our communities and region, and we’re proud to show our support for the Hawks as they prepare for Sunday’s big game," George Bartell, chairman and chief executive officer of Bartell Drugs, said in a statement.

Fans can visit the Facebook pages of Bartell Drugs or Metropolitan Market to enter to win
$500 of party supplies for the Super Bowl — $250 at Bartell Drugs and $250 at Metropolitan Market — by answering the question, "Where in the world would you most like to see a No. 12 flag fly?". The contest runs until 9 a.m. on Jan. 30, and the winner will be announced at the rally.
