TAMPA, Fla. — Michael LaBrecque has joined Benzer Pharmacy as vice president of specialty pharmacy.

The drug chain said Monday that LaBrecque will be responsible for the overall project oversight, budget, staffing, planning and project management for specialty pharmacy. The company noted that he also brings leadership and direction to enable Benzer Pharmacy to provide specialty pharmacy services for the HIV, hepatitis C and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) populations.

“This is an exciting time for Benzer Pharmacy as the demand for specialty medications has increased dramatically over the past one year, and I am very pleased to be part of the team,” LaBrecque said in a statement. “As the vice president of specialty Pharmacy, I plan to develop the operational model, the training modules and management tools that will strengthen the company to efficiently and effectively implement a formal patient management program.”

Most recently, LaBrecque served as vice president of specialty consulting at Therigy, a consulting firm and solution provider for the specialty pharmaceutical market. He has more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry, including specialty pharmacy, pharmacy benefit management, pharmacy supply chain, clinical programs, health plan operations and other areas.

Overall, Tampa, Fla.-based Benzer, whose pharmacies specialize in compounding and specialty medications, has more than 40 locations in Florida, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
