NEW YORK— With the COVID pandemic continuing to devastate regions of the country and putting lives at risk, people are looking for ways to stay safe and healthy. In an interview with the New York Post, Capsule CEO Eric Kinariwala explains how Capsule has seen a fivefold increase in customers looking for a safe alternative to the traditional pharmacy. He also adds, “I think COVID has exposed people to a new way of doing things — a better way of doing things — with their health care through necessity.”

Capsule, which offers free same-day prescription delivery in New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Minneapolis, sets itself apart from other players within the industry by providing a seamless customer experience. The company has developed innovative tech to handle routine tasks, allowing pharmacists to focus on serving customers. Kinariwala says, “There are no brands in health care that consumers care about and more importantly there are no brands in health care that care about consumers, and that’s our mission.”

Due to the pandemic, Capsule has pushed forward their previous launch plans to serve the communities hardest hit by COVID. This year alone, they’ve expanded to three additional cities with plans to reach even more Americans. Through the pandemic, Kinariwala said Capsule has kept its on-time delivery rate “north of 99 percent”.

While Capsule has had a successful year so far, the company continues to grow. A June survey released by Bank of America Securities indicated that up to 30 percent of patients were willing to permanently shift to mail pharmacies, which take up less than 20% of the market today.
