Community pharmacy applauds COVID relief package

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) today issued the following statement on behalf of CEO B. Douglas Hoey in response to the House and Senate passing the long-awaited COVID-19 relief package:

B. Douglas Hoey

“Community pharmacists are essential healthcare providers, and this relief package is essential to them. NCPA appreciates the bipartisan support in Congress, and we are proud to have worked with leaders in both houses and the administration to get this done. This package does not include everything NCPA fought for, such as liability protection for community pharmacies, but it provides significant financial relief at a critical time.

“Community pharmacists have been fighting COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. They have remained opened to take care of their patients and serve their communities, often at great personal risk. Most have incurred extraordinary expenses to remain open safely. And most are preparing to deliver the vaccine to millions of Americans, hopefully bringing this crisis to an end.”
