DENTON, Texas — Small businesses have been facing enormous challenges to keep the doors open for the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  When an unprecedented severe weather event last week put all of Texas in gridlock, the folks at Community Pharmacy in Denton knew what had to be done.  The pharmacy had to be open.

“We knew our patients needed their prescriptions, and some medications are critical as far as being filled expediently,” Community Pharmacy owner Kelly Selby said.  “I am very proud of our team of pharmacists, technicians, and staff who are committed to our patients’ care.  Each one of our team members had their own challenges at home with the severe weather, but their dedication to the pharmacy and our customers helped us stay open all week.  A heartfelt thanks to our great team.”

Like many businesses effected by the historic low temperatures last week, Community Pharmacy was challenged with power outages, intermittent phone service, and difficult weather conditions.  The pharmacy observed delayed store openings and early closings on Monday through Thursday before operating normal hours on Friday of last week.

“The manner in which our team members responded to the needs of our patients and customers during a difficult time just reinforces the impact and difference a local independent pharmacy has on a community. Thank you to everyone in our community for trusting us with your care,” said Selby.
