ATLANTA — Walgreen Co. and Sharecare, an online health care question-and-answer service, have teamed up to provide what they say is the largest searchable drug, supplements and wellness database on Facebook.

The application, called Answers, is integrated into Walgreens’ Facebook page, giving the drug chain’s followers convenient access to a first-of-its-kind interactive portal containing valuable health information and resources.

Walgreens executives note that Answers instantly connects Walgreens’ nearly 2 million Facebook fans with Sharecare’s experts, tools and health care resources.

“With the success of our online health initiatives, such as the ability to chat live with a Walgreens pharmacist 24/7, this is yet another example of our commitment to innovation in the digital space, which gives people greater access to Walgreens pharmacists and other clinical experts,” says president of e-commerce Sona Chawla. “Our relationship with Sharecare further extends our Answers promise beyond Walgreens’ retail locations, providing important health care information to customers online, through mobile applications and social media.”
