WASHINGTON — The Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) has formed an interim executive team to lead the organization until it appoints a new chief executive officer to replace Kathleen Jaeger, who is due to step down from the post later this month.

Bob Billings, vice president of policy, has been named by the GPhA Executive Committee to serve as interim executive director of the association starting July 1.

GPhA said Billings will work under the direction of the committee and be responsible for the operations of the association’s office, including general personnel matters, administrative operations and finances.

Also serving on the leadership team will be Gordon Johnston, vice president of regulatory affairs, and Bill Head, senior vice president of government affairs. Both will continue to run their respective departments and report directly to the Executive Committee during the transition period, according to GPhA.

Jaeger’s resignation, announced in early May, is due to go into effect June 30. However, she is slated serve as an adviser to the association for the rest of this year.

In announcing Jaeger’s exit last month, GPhA hadn’t indicated whether a search for a new president and CEO was under way.
