Starting in the CMO post this week at GlaxoSmithKline, and based in Parsippany, N.J., Graham now oversees GSK Consumer Healthcare’s North American marketing function.

He is responsible for integrating the efforts of the global category teams — including oral health, skin health and wellness — into local marketing plans and for instilling a culture that spurs interaction among marketing, sales and other functions within the business, the company said.

Graham most recently was vice president of corporate equity at Johnson & Johnson, holding responsibility for J&J’s global equity and reputation programs. He previously served as vice president of U.S. marketing for J&J Vision Care and held various posts in sales and marketing during his 16-year tenure with the company.

"In our search for candidates to fill this position, we wanted someone with a proven track record of building strong brands and consumer-focused marketing programs so we can grow our Consumer Healthcare business in the years to come," stated Colin Mackenzie, president of GSK Consumer Healthcare North America. "John has demonstrated to us where he has done this, and he brings a great depth of experience in global consumer health care marketing, innovation, change management and executive leadership to the table."

GSK Consumer Healthcare’s roster of brands includes Nicorette and NicoDerm CQ, Aquafresh, Sensodyne and Tums.
