RALEIGH, N.C. — Kerr Drug has debuted a free prescription delivery service to patients’ homes and offices.

The service, which is available from Kerr’s 22 stores in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, is not limited to the delivery of prescription drugs. The retailer says that almost every other product it offers in its stores can be delivered, along with a patient’s prescriptions.

Among the items the company says it will not deliver are alcohol, tobacco products and lottery tickets.

“Kerr Drug is a pioneer in the concept of community pharmacy, and ultimately that means in finding the best way to serve the people in your community,” Kerr president and chief executive officer Tony Civello comments. “There are times and circumstances when customers can’t get to the pharmacy, so this is a way to bring the pharmacy to them.’’

To use the new service, customers phone their prescription in to a Kerr pharmacist to have the medication filled and then request that the prescription be delivered to their home or office.
Customers must sign for the prescriptions upon delivery.

Kerr Drug personnel call patients when they are en route to the home or office so that customers can be prepared. The retailer adds that its pharmacists also can assist those who want to transfer their prescriptions from another pharmacy in order to take advantage of the free delivery service.
