GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. – Kinney Drugs is partnering with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host Drug Take Back Day (Saturday 4/30/22) across many of its locations in New York and Vermont. The chain is teaming with the DEA and state and local law enforcement officials to offer individuals safe disposal of expired and/or leftover controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications. (No sharps will be collected.) Kinney Drugs will host events at the following locations Saturday, April 30^th from 10:00am – 2:00pm:

• Auburn, NY (Owasco St)
• Cicero, NY
• Elizabethtown, NY
• Ithaca, NY (Triphammer Rd)
• Ovid, NY
• Seneca Falls, NY
• Watertown, NY
• Barre, VT
• Waterbury, VT

All events are free and open to the public. In addition, Kinney offers new self-service medication collection kiosks (available daily during normal pharmacy business hours) in the following locations:

East:   Hamilton, Ilion, Richfield Springs, St. Johnsville

West:  Auburn (Owasco St), Lyons

North:  Oswego, Lowville, Watertown (Coffeen St), Gouverneur (Clinton St), Lake Placid, Potsdam(Maple St), Malone (Route 11), Plattsburgh (New York Rd)

South:  Cortland (Clinton Ave), Moravia

Central:  Baldwinsville, East Syracuse (Manlius Center Rd), North Syracuse (W Taft Rd) Syracuse(Genesee St, Butternut St, James St, Nottingham Rd, Lafayette Rd)

Anyone, not just Kinney patients, can use Kinney’s kiosks to dispose of unneeded medications, including leftover and expired medications. The kiosks accept prescription and over-the-counter medications for both humans and pets, including controlled substances. The kiosks are NOT for disposal of sharps/needles (including EpiPens), medical/biohazardous waste, regular or hazardous household trash, or personal care products.
