Kirby Lester KL1Plus brings trackable double-count

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Kirby Lester announced that its KL1Plus medication dispensing device now includes streamlined functionality to perform a trackable double-count for any prescription coming out of a vial-filling robot.

The pharmacy automation provider said Tuesday that since a double-count of controlled medications is required, the KL1Plus enables a retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy to quickly perform a second count of any tablet or capsule order.

The KL1Plus stores an archived record of the second count up to 10 years. Kirby Lester noted that this functionality is ideal for any pharmacy that dispenses controlled medications or expensive medications via any robot, such as the Kirby Lester KL60 or KL100 pharmacy robot.

"The KL1Plus’s trackable double-count is a pharmacy’s safety net against counting errors or customer complaints," commented Dave Johnson, vice president of sales for Kirby Lester. "Regardless of what brand of robot a pharmacy uses, the KL1Plus enhances that pharmacy’s defenses. A pharmacy makes a huge investment with a robot. Adding a KL1Plus is minimal comparatively and, with it, you’ve closed the loop: 100% of your orders are verified, counted and archived with automation."

For any pharmacy, with or without robotics, a KL1Plus is used to verify and count all orders dispensed in the pharmacy, whether in tablets, capsules or unit-of-use form.

Kirby Lester plans to showcase the KL1Plus at upcoming trade shows, including the Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference, National Association of Chain Drug Stores Total Store Expo, North Carolina Mutual Annual and Morris & Dickson M.A.D. Days of Summer.
