LiceGuard launches drug store promotion

NEEDHAM, Mass. — LiceGuard has begun a special promotion in leading drug chain for the back-to-school season to boost awareness its flagship RobiComb product, a lice-zapping comb.

The head lice treatment product maker said Wednesday that for a limited time at CVS/pharmacy and Walgreens drug stores, consumers can buy two RobiCombs, mail in the receipt and the UPC code, and get a check for $30, the price of one RobiComb.

The offer is available until Aug. 23 or while supplies last.

"Over 2 million RobiCombs have been sold worldwide, but it still isn’t a household name — yet," commented LiceGuard chief executive officer Brandon Ingersoll.

With proprietary Micro-Charge technology, the RobiComb emits a small electrical pulse that kills lice and eggs on contact. It is clinically proven, doctor-recommended in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and touted by school nurses across the country, LiceGuard said.

Up to 12 million children ages 3 to 12 are diagnosed with head lice each year, according to LiceGuard. But many prescription and over-the-counter lice treatments are toxic and harmful to children, with 75% of the market is dominated by the branded lice treatment shampoos and ointments containing permethrin or pyrethroids, which are pesticides and neurotoxins, the company noted, adding that the RobiComb is the only dry treatment on the market.
