RICHMOND, British Columbia — London Drugs has enhanced its photo services with the launch of its first-ever iOS app.

With the new Photolab app, London Drugs customers can upload and print photos direct from their iPhone or iPad.

“The Photolab app was designed to satisfy mobile phone and tablet users’ growing appetite for easy mobile printing from their personal devices while they are in ‘the moment’ or at that special event,” Andy Kahrmann, manager of the imaging business unit at London Drugs, said in a statement. “More and more people are opting to use their mobile devices to store their captured images from their phones or transferred images from their cameras, and many are looking for a simple way to have their photos professionally printed on the go.”

Customers who use the London Drugs Photolab website to order prints online can sign into their Photolab account and place orders from their collections.

The drug chain said signup is quick and simple for new users, with prints being offered for as low as 39 cents.

“The LDphotolab easy-to-use IOS App allows users to upload photos straight from their device’s camera or upload from their camera roll and order prints in seconds,” according to Kahrmann.

In addition, the new app expands the list of printing options, including a wide variety of sizes and styles, that customers can choose right from their mobile devices, London Drugs said. The app offers glossy and pearl prints, photos with borders, enlargements and fine art prints, such as bamboo, canvas and metallic prints. Square prints can also be chosen by customers looking to print Instagram shots. Print sizes available via the app run from 4×4 to 24×96.

App users can pay for prints in-app or in-store and choose to have them delivered or pick them up from a London Drugs store. Prints are available for pickup within 24 hours, and up to 48 hours for enlargements.

London Drugs said it soon plans to roll out more features and updates to the iOS app as well as introduce an Android version of the Photolab app.

Overall, the drug chain has 78 stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, along with its LondonDrugs.com online store.
