HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has launched amlodipine besylate and benazepril hydrochloride capsules, a medication for hypertension.

The pharmaceutical company said it rolled out the amlodipine besylate and benazepril hydrochloride capsules (5 mg/40 mg and 10 mg/40 mg), available in 100-count bottles, to the U.S. market this week after its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on Monday.

According to Dr. Reddy’s, the product is a bioequivalent generic version of Novartis’ Lotrel, indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure.

The Lotrel brand had U.S. sales of about $290 million for the most recent 12 months ended in March, according to IMS Health data cited by Dr. Reddy’s.
