ORLANDO, Fla. — McKesson Pharmacy Systems and Automation (MPS&A) is launching the largest software release for its Pharmaserv pharmacy management system in four years.

MPS&A said Tuesday that the latest Pharmaserv, introduced at ideaShare 2014 in Orlando, Fla., includes new adherence program solutions — such as automated refill management and adherence performance reports — plus tighter integration with McKesson programs that can bring added value to distribution customers who use a McKesson pharmacy management system.

"Our focus for this release was to support our loyal customers as they work to meet the demands of a changing health care environment," stated Bernie Reese, vice president and general manager for independent and small chain markets at MPS&A. "We maintained the flexibility that customers love in Pharmaserv and built out its capabilities to support new pharmacy operations and clinical services."

Other new Pharmaserv features include improved reconciliation, easier prior authorization management, improved support for McKesson Generics Rebate program, greater interface flexibility, simplified billing and accounts receivable and added protection for credit card processing security.

Reese noted that along with building new functionality into Pharmaserv, MPS&A determined that it was time to give the product a makeover. "We modernized the user interface to make it even more intuitive, and we added icons that make it easier for pharmacy staff to select generics that lower the cost for patients and the cost-per-fill for pharmacies."
