NEW YORK — Mylan Inc. and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories have released olanzapine tablets, an antipsychotic medication, in six dosage strengths.

The companies said Tuesday that their products, a generic version of Zyprexa from Eli Lilly and Co., come in strengths of 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg and 20 mg.

Dr. Reddy’s noted that its 20-mg olanzapine product last fall was awarded a 180-day period of U.S. marketing exclusivity, which was commercialized through an agreement with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

The company said its olanzapine tablets come in 30-count and 500-count bottles.

Olanzapine tablets had U.S. sales of about $3.3 billion last year, according to IMS Health figures cited by Watson. The drug maker said the medication is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar 1 disorder and maintenance treatment of bipolar 1 disorder.
