CHICAGO — New World Natural Brands chairman Ed Ryan announced the appointment of Shannon Curtin as the chief executive officer effective July 17, 2019.
“Shannon’s vast beauty experience which combines both retail and consumer goods makes her especially well positioned to deliver our growth objectives. Shannon’s collaborative leadership style, industry expertise and personal passion for the natural category will ensure our brand portfolio continues to meet the consumers evolving needs” noted Ryan.
Curtain’s passion for beauty began over 25 years ago as a high school student selling fragrances in her hometown department store. Upon graduation from college, she made her way to Walmart, serving in various beauty merchandising positions of increasing responsibility throughout her tenure. Following Walmart, she moved to Chicago as the GVP/GMM of Beauty and Personal Care for Walgreens where she led the strategic vision for the division and the multi-billion-dollar P&L during her six years with the chain drug retailer, before accepting a New York City based position at Coty Consumer Beauty.
As the SVP/GM of North America for Coty’s consumer division, Shannon’s billion dollar financial responsibility included the mass fragrance portfolio as well as integrating and relaunching the iconic beauty brands of COVERGIRL, Sally Hansen, Rimmel and Clairol across 60,000 retail doors throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Shannon most recently launched her own consulting and creative practice in Hoboken, NJ., The Beauty Boutique Group, that specializes in the strategic development of independent beauty and personal care brands.
Curtin has earned numerous awards throughout her career, including Crain’s Chicago Business Top 40 under 40 – 2014, CEW Achiever Award Recipient – 2015 and Beauty Inc.’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Beauty – 2015. She proudly serves on the board of CEW, The Bees Trees and Water Foundation and her alma mater, the Henderson State University School of Business.
