LAKEVILLE-MIDDLEBORO, Mass. — Ocean Spray has unveiled PACt cranberry extract water, which the company bills as a healthier solution for hydration.

Ocean Spray said each 16-ounce, single-serve bottle of PACt contains 80 mg of proanthocyanidins, or PACs, which are natural elements found in cranberries that contain unique A-type PACs, which help cleanse and purify the body by allowing certain harmful bacteria to be flushed away naturally.

"Consumers are looking to hydrate in a more meaningful way. They want beverages that offer true functional benefits," stated Ken Romanzi, chief operating officer of global brands at Ocean Spray. "With the launch of PACt cranberry extract water, we’ve created an even better water that harnesses the unique power of the cranberry through a breakthrough cranberry extract innovation, 10 years in the making. PACt water contains the cleansing and purifying benefits of the cranberry without all the sugar and calories.”

PACt is made with just seven ingredients, including purified water, unique cranberry PACs, natural sweeteners agave nectar, stevia, monkfruit extract, natural fruit flavors, and sea salt. Each serving contains only 10 calories.

"We found a way to concentrate the unique health-promoting elements found deep inside the cranberry through the development of a cranberry extract made with a patent-pending process," added Christina Khoo, director of research sciences at Ocean Spray.

PACt cranberry extract water comes in four flavors: cranberry pomegranate, cranberry raspberry, cranberry blood orange and cranberry mango-passion fruit.

PACt is available in water aisle at major retailers in California and Nevada and online. Plans call for national distribution in 2015.
