Bill Miller named acting head of retail operations.
The company provided no details on Persaud’s departure, saying, “We appreciate his years of service to Rite Aid and wish him the best in his next endeavor.”
Persaud, who was slated to be the next chairman of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, was named chief retail officer in 2021. He was appointed executive vice president, retail for Rite Aid in February 2020 and assumed responsibility for orchestrating new in-store experiences and retail operations processes in line with the company’s RxEvolution strategy.
He began his career as a pharmacist with Walmart Canada in 1994 and within four months was promoted to pharmacy manager. A few years later, he took the reins of the company’s entire Canadian drug store division, as national pharmacy operations manager.
Over the next 20 years, Persaud moved from drug stores to food chains to discounters at the vice president level. At Shoppers Drug Mart, he oversaw national operations as the retailer nearly doubled its store count. He also headed operations for Burlington Stores, and was the No. 2 executive at Shopko.
