BOULDER, Colo. — Food and drug retailing veteran David Janowicz has been appointed vice president of merchandising at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy Inc.

The western regional drug store chain said Monday that Janowicz will play a critical role in upcoming merchandising initiatives. He comes to the company from Supervalu Inc., where he most recently served as the corporate director of merchandising in general merchandise and health and beauty care.

Pharmaca noted that Janowicz has more than 25 years of merchandising and category management experience in such major retail outlets as Supervalu, Albertson’s and American Drug Stores.

"David brings a wide variety of retail experience to Pharmaca, and our team of category managers will benefit greatly from his leadership," Pharmaca chief executive officer Mark Panzer said in a statement. "We look forward to David taking the reins and driving sales."

Pharmaca, which offers traditional prescription-filling services along with natural and complementary health solutions, operates 22 pharmacies in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.
