CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. has opened three Atlantic ImmediCare retail health clinics inside stores in Maryland and Delaware.

The new clinics, operated by Berlin, Md.-based Atlantic General Hospital and Health System, are located at Rite Aid stores in Ocean Pines and Pocomoke City, Md., and Millsboro, Del. The drug chain in late September had announced plans to open the clinics.

At the Atlantic ImmediCare clinics, certified nurse practitioners provide care for common illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, pink eye, tick bites, flu, bladder infections, bronchitis and allergies, along with school and employer physicals, laboratory tests, adult immunizations and health screenings.

The clinics are open on a walk-in basis from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, the clinics provide direct access to more specialized and acute treatment options at Atlantic General Hospital.

Upon arrival at the Atlantic ImmediCare clinic, patients can sign in via a computer kiosk, noting on the electronic medical record their symptoms and personal health information typically collected during an appointment.

With the patient’s permission, Atlantic ImmediCare can provide treatment information to the patient’s primary health care provider. Because of the affiliation with the hospital and health system, records of the clinic visits for individuals who are patients of an Atlantic General Health System provider will be available immediately to that provider through the electronic medical record, ensuring an up-to-date medical history and more comprehensive care, the company said.

Regardless of whom a patient sees regularly, the electronic system will store the information from their visit for easy recall and updating should they return to the clinic for future visits.

Atlantic General Hospital is a 62-bed acute care hospital that serves Worcester County, Maryland, and surrounding areas. The Atlantic General Health System comprises a network of 26 primary care providers and specialists.
