LEESBURG, Va. — Tom O’Grady has joined pharmacy alliance RxAlly as general counsel and executive vice president of corporate development.

RxAlly said Monday that O’Grady, previously with the law firm McGuireWoods LLP, brings more than 30 years of corporate and transactional law experience to the company. In the corporate development role, he will structure business relationships between RxAlly and the companies that the alliance will be working with as it works to align pharmacies, pharmacists, patients and payers in improving health care.

"His work in helping to establish RxAlly as our external general counsel was invaluable. His experience in structuring transactions to achieve aligned business goals is going to be important to us at RxAlly as we focus on how America’s pharmacies will deliver better health to patients, aligning the interests of patients, payers and providers."

At McGuireWoods, O’Grady focused on transactional law for health care and other technology-enabled companies. His 26 years of experience at the firm included mergers and acquisitions and equity and debt financing, as well as licensing, intellectual property and outsourcing transactions.

O’Grady was recognized as one of Virginia’s "Legal Elite" by Virginia Business in 2010 and was named as a Washington, D.C., and Virginia "Super Lawyer" in 2007.

A performance network of more than 22,000 pharmacies, RxAlly was launched earlier this year as a way for the community pharmacy sector to stake a bigger claim in the nation’s health care delivery system. The company’s chief mission is to help patients achieve better health outcomes via personalized pharmacy care, while mitigating costs.

RxAlly has been adding to its leadership team in recent months. In June, it announced the appointment of Peter Duran as vice president and chief privacy officer, and in April John Miall was named national practice leader for integrated care initiatives.
