ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Catalina Health, a provider of personalized patient management solutions, plans to add all Safeway supermarket pharmacies to its retail pharmacy network by the end of November.

Catalina said Thursday that its pharmacy programs will be used by Safeway pharmacies to disseminate information that will foster customer adherence to their prescription medications as well as promote healthy lifestyles.

"The Catalina Health program is a wonderful complement to our existing pharmacy services," Darren Singer, senior vice president of pharmacy at Safeway, said in a statement. "Educating our patients on the importance of taking their medication and making them aware of our preventative patient care and health services fits right in with Safeway’s strategy of becoming a health and wellness destination."

Safeway has about 1,200 pharmacies in its more than 1,400 U.S. supermarket locations.

Catalina Health provides patient-driven educational support and information to help patients to make better health care decisions, delivering relevant treatment-related messages to more than 130 million patients annually.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Safeway to the Catalina Health network," stated Mark Doerr, senior vice president of retail services at Catalina Health. "The Safeway philosophy aligns completely with our strategic vision and objectives of providing health consumers with the coordinated support they want and need to manage their health and wellness."
