BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam’s Club is offering free digestive health screenings this month at its pharmacy locations.

The warehouse club chain, part of Walmart, said Monday that the digestive health tests will be provided on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its more than 500 in-store pharmacies.

The digestive health checkup includes the EZ DETECT Stool Blood Test, which is a take-home colon test, plus cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) screenings, according to Sam’s Club. EZ DETECT is a test for early detection of bowel disorders such as colon cancer, ulcers, hemorrhoids, polyps, colitis, diverticulitis or fissures.

During the screenings, Sam’s Club pharmacies also will offer free samples of seasonal health-related products, including Prevacid, Boogie Wipes and Zeiss Wipes by Carl Zeiss Vision, plus awareness information. Customers also will be urged to talk to their doctors for further information about colon cancer screenings.

"Every 10 minutes a life is lost to colon cancer. Although many people may consider colon screenings an embarrassing topic of conversation, this cancer can be detected early when treatment is most effective — or even prevented altogether," Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of health and wellness at Sam’s Club, said in a statement. "Our digestive health screenings are a simple way for members to take an active role in the prevention of digestive disorders, including the early discovery of colon cancer."

The wholesale club chain added that this year it has provided over 285,000 free health screenings in its U.S. store locations.
