TORONTO — Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) has unveiled a three-year, $1 million partnership with Osteoporosis Canada as part of the retailer’s new Shoppers LOVE YOU program.

SDM said the alliance aims to build awareness about how to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and the broken bones that it can cause. New educational resources are due to become available to Canadians early next year. The effort also will support continuing education for SDM pharmacists about how to help patients slow the progression of osteoporosis via medication, vitamins and lifestyle changes.

Meanwhile, the Shoppers LOVE YOU program aims to help women stay focused on their health. SDM said that in the past five years it has contributed more than $57 million on behalf of its customers, associate owners and their store teams to local, regional and national women’s health initiatives, benefiting over 1.5 million Canadian women.

In Quebec, SDM’s Pharmaprix store banner has signed actress Sophie Prégent as the ambassador for the program, where it’s known as AIMEZ VOUS.

“I’m very enthusiastic to join the Pharmaprix AIMEZ VOUS program, as the issue of women’s health is something that I care deeply about,” stated Prégent, who’s best known for her television, theater and film career. “I know, like so many other women, how our busy lives can distract us from taking care of ourselves. That’s why I’m honored to join forces with Pharmaprix to help make women’s health a priority.”
