PALO ALTO, Calif. — Shoppers can now navigate the aisles to find what they want at Walgreens drug stores with the help of a smartphone application from aisle411, a mobile retail navigation service.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based technology provider said Tuesday that its in-store mapping platform enables consumers to use iOS (Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) and Android mobile devices to view maps of any of Walgreens’ 7,907 stores and locate products down to a particular section of each aisle.

According to aisle 411, Walgreens is the first national retailer with all of its stores mapped in a mobile app.

"We are always looking for new ways to utilize technology to deliver a better shopping experience and help customers with their health and daily living needs," Abhi Dhar, chief technology officer at Walgreens, said in a statement. "With aisle411, Walgreens further delivers on its goal of providing the most convenient shopping experience by simplifying store visits and saving customers’ valuable time."

With the aisle411 app, shoppers can route their trip through a Walgreens store.

With aisle411’s in-store mapping platform, customers can use their smartphones to view maps of any Walgreens store, allowing shoppers to locate products down to a particular section of each aisle. Walgreens is the first national retailer with all of its stores mapped in a mobile application.

Anyone with a compatible smartphone can use the aisle411 app to find products and promotions quickly at Walgreens stores using its in-store search and mobile retail shopping tools. Users can create, organize and share shopping lists, and they can build their list by using voice or scanning items. When it’s time to shop, the list is organized by product category and store section, so consumers can route their trip through the store and check off items as they shop.

The app can be downloaded free at the Apple iTunes App Store and at the Google Play store.

A national survey commissioned by aisle411 found that 84% of shoppers have difficulty finding products on store shelves, and more than 20% of customers leave a store without achieving their full purchase intent.

"Retailers are constantly looking for solutions to enhance their customer’s store visits and improve convenience," stated Nathan Pettyjohn, chief executive officer of aisle411. "aisle411 allows retailers to empower their shoppers by providing information such as product locations right in customers’ hands, making the shopping experience more convenient and fun. aisle411’s unmatched scalability made it the perfect solution to accommodate Walgreens nationwide deployment, providing a solution for nearly 8,000 stores."
