DEERFIELD, Ill. — Ramona Sequeira has been appointed president of Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. Inc., a unit of Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.

The company said this week that Sequeira will lead all business operations for the United States and report to Christophe Weber, president and chief executive officer of Takeda.

She joins Takeda from her most recent role as vice president of Lilly USA at Eli Lilly and Co. Before that, she served as the general manager of Lilly’s U.K. hub.

Takeda noted that Sequeira brings extensive leadership experience across multiple therapy areas — including neuroscience, specialty and primary care — as well as in several regions, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“The U.S. is a critical market for Takeda’s future growth, and I am confident that with her strong commercial experience and knowledge of the U.S. health care environment, Ramona is the right person to lead this important business unit and play a key role on my leadership team,” Weber said in a statement. “Her more than 20 years of leadership experience and track record of success across multiple health care markets, as well as her demonstrated passion for patient centricity, will serve as a critical foundation during Takeda’s global transformation.”
