Updox announces new services to help independents reach and acquire patients

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

DUBLIN, Ohio Updox, a health care collaboration platform that provides pharmacies with an all-in-one solution needed to attract new customers, better engage existing patients and collaborate with prescribers, today announced it is the first and only healthcare partner to offer digital marketing services in tandem with an all-in-one platform. With the Updox approach, pharmacies are backed by a professional digital marketing team, working alongside a technology suite that engages patients and prescribers such as Video Chat and Secure Text, to attract potential customers effectively and efficiently.

Updox’s new digital marketing offerings include: search marketing, social media advertising, local listing management, review management and insights and analytics. Designed to meet each pharmacy’s specific needs, there are three unique offering levels – foundational, enhanced and optimized – to leverage in order to best meet specific business goals.

“Today’s independent and community pharmacies are under siege from national competitors and declining reimbursement rates, heightening the need to further increase engagement, create efficiencies and strengthen the role of pharmacists in the new healthcare system,” said Michael Morgan, CEO of Updox. “Considering that roughly two-thirds of U.S. adults use Facebook, and that Google receives over 63,000 searches per second on any given day, pharmacies must capitalize on these platforms in order to grow their customer bases. With Updox’s new digital marketing program, our customers have the opportunity to grow their community presence, ultimately boosting their bottom lines.”

Proven Effectiveness

The new digital marketing services were first offered in early 2019. Powell Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy based in Powell, OH, participated in the pilot program where it experienced a significant uptick in local awareness. Powell Pharmacy reached more than 20,000 people in their service area, resulting in 130 phone calls, pharmacy visits, and direction inquiries — all in just two weeks — at an average cost of $2.72 per conversion.

“Pharmacists play a vital role in delivering healthcare. But in today’s age, we are tasked with not just engaging existing patients and collaborating with prescribing physicians, but also attracting new customers. This is where technology comes into play to reach a wider audience and a new generation of patients who might not have experienced an independent pharmacy before,” said Emlah Tubuo, PharmD, Owner/Pharmacist, Powell Pharmacy. “Since I started using Updox, I’m seeing new patients transfer their prescriptions to me. People are finding me online.”

With Updox, pharmacists can use the same all-in-one solution for engaging patients that they already use for collaborating with prescribers for powerful workflow efficiencies. All vital patient information and communications are quickly accessible in one easy-to-use solution.
