TAMPA, Fla. — Brad Fluegel, senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Walgreen Co., has been named to the board of directors at Health Integrated Inc.

The health care management company said Wednesday started serving as a Health Integrated director in July.

"Brad joins our board during a tremendous time of opportunity and growth, and we are honored to have him," Shan Padda, chairman and chief executive officer of Health Integrated, said in a statement. "With his experience in creating business strategies for integrated care programs, Brad brings to our board a deep insight about the value of care coordination, which is especially needed for vulnerable populations."

At Walgreens, Fluegel is responsible for corporate strategy, business development and project management. He joined the drug chain in October 2012 after serving as an executive in residence at Health Evolution Partners, a private equity firm for health care firms. Previously, Fluegel was executive vice president and chief strategy and external affairs officer for health benefits provider Wellpoint. He also served in leadership roles at health insurer Aetna and at health care management consultancies Reden & Anders and Tillinghast-Towers Perrin.

"Health Integrated has created an innovative approach to meeting the complex needs of underserved individuals while helping health plan customers contain costs," Fluegel stated. "Health Integrated is passionate about its ability to make a difference for vulnerable populations and health plans that serve them, and I’m proud to be part of such an innovative company. I look forward to contributing to Health Integrated’s ongoing success by implementing strategies that enable customers to improve the patient experience of care, improve the health of the population and reduce the per capita cost of health care."
