DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreen Co. today named former Pfizer Inc. executive Robyn Peters as group vice president of managed market sales.

She replaces chief client officer Joseph Terrion, who is leaving the company to pursue personal interests.

Peters has spent the past 25 years in health care marketing, market access and reimbursement, and business development positions. At Walgreens she will lead all sales and account management activities in the company’s employer, health systems, health plans, government, and small and individual payer segments, along with client retention, expansion programs and sales operations.

Before joining Walgreens Peters was Pfizer’s vice president of U.S. payers and national accounts, corporate and government customers, where she led several internal projects aimed at driving innovation with national and global payers.

During her three-plus years with Pfizer she and her team managed business partnerships with the largest customers in the commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, employer, specialty pharmacy, federal and long-term-care segments.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Peters was executive director of managed markets marketing for Boehringer Ingelheim. She has also worked for Schering Plough Corp. and was vice president of business development for MediFit Corporate Services, a disease management, health promotion and work-site health and wellness firm serving Fortune 500 companies.
In that role she was responsible for all national marketing and sales efforts.

"Robyn has the proven ability to drive business growth through innovative customer partnerships," Walgreens president of pharmacy, health and wellness solutions and services Kermit Crawford said. "That will help us deliver to health care payers the value our pharmacists and other health care professionals provide every day."

Peters will report to Jeff Berkowitz, Walgreens senior vice president, pharmaceutical development and market access. He said he expects she will have an immediate impact on shaping the future of Walgreens’ health care services.

"This represents the next step we’re taking to strengthen our sales organization, as part of a focused approach to sales, contracting, pricing and marketing," Berkowitz noted.

"In recent months we’ve combined a number of functions into our pharmaceutical development and market access department, including pharmacy purchasing and supply chain, contracting and pricing, pharmaceutical development, sales shared services, and B2B marketing," he explained. "With a clear structure in place, we now have a strong, integrated platform to head into the upcoming PBM selling season as we support our partners and demonstrate the value Walgreens provides to payers and patients."
